This is me.

This is everything I’m passionate about.

My name is Angela.

I live in Brooklyn but I was raised in Boston. You can find me at the farmers markets of New York City spending an hour picking out the perfect produce. I love animals. I love being an animal activist and rescuer. And I love cooking vegan food.

When I was growing up we had many animals; horses, cats, dogs, and even a cow. My sisters and I watched our cow, Clarabell, give birth as my mother helped deliver the calf. I’m grateful for having those experiences as a child. Their innocence and vulnerability, their unconditional love, and the sweet comfortable bond I felt being around them is why I’m vegan. Read more about compassion for animals on the Why Vegan page.

My ancestors came to the United States many years ago from Naples, Southern Italy. They were making wine and food from the moment they arrived. Growing up in restaurants was a lot of work, but there was never anything dreaded about cooking in my family. It brought us together, and still does. We were always having huge feasts, inviting relatives and friends over, growing our own herbs and vegetables, and wanting only the best to put in our bodies. Whether you have a family or not, you can still find the time to put some care into the food you make and enjoy the process.

How I cook is different from how my family cooks. But I have incorporated the best from the traditional Mediterranean diet mixed with modern innovations to make healthy vegan recipes. I love experimenting with varieties, cuisines, and ingredients.

Cooking is my Zen. I know if you experiment in the kitchen you will be able to do what I do and more. It’s easy. It just takes a little bit of consistent effort.

Over the years I have found a way to reach people by showing them how I live. I want to share recipes and information to help others consider the animals, the earth, and their well being, while eating clean, delicious, and nourishing food.

Celebrating life is what Beautiful Vegan Kitchen is all about.

Thank you for visiting.
